The Pantry Market at Keyes

Rosebank’s art and design district, Keyes Art Mile, is home to the monthly food market – The Pantry Market at Keyes.  Taking place on the last Saturday morning of every month, the market specialises in small-batch, artisanal food products for you to take home and stock your pantry with.  It brings to the district everything from olive oil and honey to fresh produce, charcuterie, confectionery, sourdough bread and whole grains.

The Pantry Market aims to bridge the gap between farm and fork and allow visitors to get to know the people behind the brands.”

One of the highlights of The Pantry Market is the talks programme. Each month visitors can attend a free food-related talk by an industry expert. Topics include ethical eating, reducing your plastic-use, plant-based diets, and more.

The market is a plastic-free zone, and visitors can shop top-quality, ethically produced products in a relaxed, curated space, in which they meet the makers, sip, sample, snack and enjoy live music. They can even bring their own glass jars to fill with milk and honey. To complete the experience, breakfast and lunch are available from the several Keyes Art Mile restaurants, including BGR, MESH Club, Milk Bar and Marble. While SMAC and the TMRW gallery offer additional visual stimulus to the morning, True Design (Kartell, Moroso and Cassina), Okapi, Shelflife and Anatomy will be open for browsing and shopping.

A selection of producers:

The 2018 Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge

Join over 28 000 cycling enthusiasts to celebrate the 22nd edition of the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge on Sunday 18 November at Riversands Commercial Park.

The Cycle Challenge will be just as long, just as hilly, and we'll still shut down the city for you to take it over, including a stretch of the M1.  It will be as thrilling, exciting, well-supported and rewarding as ever BUT this year we'll be doing it all in REVERSE!

You can enjoy the same city-spanning route and the challenge doesn't get any easier but now the climbs will be downhills, and you'll need to work where you're used to freewheeling.

Maybe you've conquered the challenge many times and are looking for something fresh; maybe you rode it once and swore to never do it again, but we believe this new route will make for an exciting change, and a more enjoyable ride.

While it won't be any easier we have taken the sting out of the tail - and those last four hills that broke many riders in the last 10kms, will now be in the first 10kms, while your legs are still fresh.

Entry fee is R504.50
